This is the premiere of Vital Signs – a documentary series about the future of classical music by director J.M. Harper (produced by Lonelyleap). Made over the last four years, it features artists like Richard Reed Parry (Arcade Fire), Greg Saunier (Deerhoof), Caroline Shaw, yMusic (The National, Bon Iver, St. Vincent), Son Lux, Nico Muhly, Andrew Norman, Missy Mazzoli, Timo Andres and many more. At this screening, clips from the film will be mixed with a live panel conversation about the state of new music in today’s political climate.

About the Artist

J.M. Harper is a documentary filmmaker living and working in Brooklyn. When attending Princeton University, he made his first films while studying abroad in Berlin. After working in television there, he returned to the US to become Creative Director at Lonelyleap, making commercial documentaries for clients like Google, BBC, and VSCO around the world. He prefers discovering small-scale stories that carry a big emotional impact. His latest work has been editing a feature length documentary on the first African American basketball player, Earl Lloyd, which premiers at the Tribeca Film Festival this year.
