About the Show
Founded by mezzo-soprano Carla Dirlikov Canales, The Canales Project’s Between Two Worlds gives voice to issues of identity and culture through a powerful musical message. Canales hosts this event that features music and discussion in three fascinating segments with young activist-artists:
Llewellyn Sanchez-Werner, a pianist and composer committed to social action through music;
Mariela Shaker, a Syrian violinist born in Aleppo who uses music to raise awareness for the plight of her countrymen
Andia Winslow, a Yale alumna and athlete who encourages young people and adults to maintain healthy and active lifestyles.
Carnegie Hall’s Neighborhood Concerts is a program of the Weill Music Institute.
Lead support for Neighborhood Concerts is provided by the Howard Gilman Foundation.
